The Game Boy was kind of a weird time. There were a ton of puzzle games, exhaustively (and exhaustingly) covered in Jeremy Parish's Game Boy World series. I was staying in a hotel for reasons that weren't entirely clear. The hotel was built around a courtyard area, but a very odd one. I was living in a house with a bunch of other men. Like a college situation, almost, but I didn't have a sense that there was a university attached, or really of anything outside the house.
